Tetraphocomelia – Thalidomide
This module tells about the “phocomelia” theme in relation with an epidemic of phocomelia followed the introduction of Thalidomide, a medication sold as a remedy for the nausea and other symptoms associated with gestation (“morning sickness”). Tetraphocomelia (four limb shortening) is a developmental anomaly that in this instance (by history) does not impact intellectual development.
