Cebocephaly

Note what signs you see.
I see (W. Wertelecki, M.D.) a flat facial profile similar to a monkey which gives rise to the term “cebocephaly” (cebos points to monkey – see companion image). The signs I note include: shallow orbits with protruding ocular globes; lack of nasal root and minimal nasal prominence; and maltreated ear axis (in hypoplasia/aplasia of the mandible the axis of the ear may be horizontal). The concurrence of these signs suggests holoprosencephaly (a preferable term to cebocephaly).
