I (W. Wertelecki, M.D.) see hyperpigmented melanic café-au-lait (CaL) like small patches.
PERSPECTIVE: Nearly 90% of children manifesting multiple signs diagnostic of NF1 also show signs in the axilla or groin. Another preferential location is in the pre-auricular and periocular skin. These preferential locations suggest a hypothesis – perhaps the proximity to major arteries is reflected by a higher local temperature. This hypothesis is amplified in the tutorial concerning NF1 and NF1 gallery.
