Coloboma

Note what signs you see.
I (W. Wertelecki, M.D.) see a pair of images illustrating irides with a gap (as if due to a cut) referred to as colobomas (iridoschisis). In fact, such defects most likely represent a failure of fusion. In a spherical watch dial, such gaps are most frequent at a five or a seven positions. This is one of many images being posted concerned signs that are visually evident by external ocular examinations.
PERSPECTIVE: as usual, it is critical to know if such anomaly is unilateral, bilateral, symmetric, isolated, concurrent with other anomalies, parents developmental status, prenatal and postnatal history, etc. More is found in companion presentations.
