Ear Dysplasia Severe

Note what signs you see.
I (I. Lastivka, M.D.) see:
- Ear, dysplasia, severe.
- Ear, helix, partial hypoplasia.
PERSPECTIVE: in combination with other signs consideration of Patau syndrome is justified.
NOTE: see in patients gallery the rest of the images of this patient (ptPatau-A); the ear anomalies are bilateral and asymmetric. There is agenesis of the helix above the tragus and in mid-portion of the posterior rim. This is an excellent illustration that the ear derives from multiple developmental sights prior to their fusion – in this case the mid-aspects of the ear are most severely dysmorphic.
