Brachycephaly

Note what signs you see.
I (W. Wertelecki, M.D.) see a “square, broad or flat” face. The son of this man inherited the same. Similar flat faces are noted in virtually all patients with Down syndrome. Neonatologists should be suspicious of “square” heads and faces and check for “brachycephaly” (“brachy” in Medicine means “short”) – in Medicine this term implies consequences due to premature fusion of coronal sutures of the skull or external forces deforming the skull causing plagiocephaly (falsified shape).
