PERSPECTIVE: Cranium-face disproportions, distortions, deformations … are quite common – can be viewed as congenital (prenatal in origin), related to labor and delivery or due to post-natal external deforming mechanical forces (often a component of social/cultural traditions). There are many illustrations posted in CEO – please search CEO and standard sources of medical information using, among others, key terms such as “craniosynostos”, “acroceph”, “oxyceph”, “scaphoceph”, and other pre-fixes to “ceph”. One category of particular importance is “plagiocephaly” (deformed cranium), which often is associated with facial deformities as well as with “torticollis”.
