Purpura Fulminans

Note what signs you see.
I (W. Wertelecki, M.D.) see an obviously ill and febrile boy with multiple skin hemorrhages (purpura and echimoses) – the darker “purple” areas (root of the therm “purpura”) suggest an early stage of intra-vascular coagulation which probably is a signal of “purpura fulminans” (as the name denotes, a fulminating often lethal complication most often of a sepsis, in particular menigococcemia).
Additional comments are found in examples of purpura (please search using the key term “purpura”).
