I (W. Wertelecki, M.D.) see what may be a cranial-facial disproportion. However, unless the fronto-occipital circumference is measured such statement is hypothetical. The companion clinical images will dramatically enhance the value of the current illustration (please see this patient’s clinical gallery). In fact, the combined value prompted the search and finding of the etiology of the observed developmental anomalies.
PERSPECTIVE: This example underscores the fundamental principles of Dysmorphology – measure what is measurable and compare the measure with established standards for age, sex and occasionally ethnic contrasts and that the presence of one anomaly calls for the search of other concurrent alterations.
