I (W. Wertelecki, M.D.) see a detail for a mural – a woman afraid of a vision of presumably her child in-utero. Above her are implements related to biochemistry, presumably pharmacy. This extremely talented mural outlines the history of Medicine and its ideals. This detail presumably is a reminder that in-utero children are not immune from environmental damages. What is most provocative that at the time of the creation of this mural very little was known about Teratology – the scientific discipline dedicated to the study of teratogens (environmental and genetic factors that impact negatively child conception, growth and development).
