Note what signs you see.
I (W. Wertelecki, M.D.) see a pygmy or rather an individual with achondroplasia. This is another example how artists recognize “short stature syndromes” centuries before clinicians did (in this instance this artist represented many individuals with characteristic signs – a signal that achondroplasia often is hereditary).
PERSPECTIVE: Focus on the proportions of head – digits – torso – limbs, which are consistently deviated. There are many other examples of achondroplasia by artists who lived centuries before this disorder was outlined.
