I see (W. Wertelecki, M.D.) what you see – a “floppy” or “flabby” infant.
Hypotonia may be transient as noted in Down syndrome (DS) – one of the most prevalent and highly uncharacteristic among many other signs. However, hypotonia is not pathognomonic of DS because it is also present in many other malformation syndromes (see a tutorial on the subject).
