Note what signs you see.
I (W. Wertelecki, M.D.) see an infant “labeled” by a neonatologist as representing an instance of Down syndrome (DS).
Do you agree?
A clinical geneticist explained that in his view this image has multiple dysmorphic facial signs. The most stigmatic (characteristic) signals of DS are the open mouth (a sign of hypotonia), small round ears and a short nose (underdeveloped nasal root), a sign of altered chondro-skeletal development.
PRETEND YOU ARE A CLINICIAN – EXAMINE FURTHER THIS BABY.
See a silent video of this patient and test your ability to see other DS dysmorphic signs.

ARE YOUR EYES OPEN?
CAN YOUR EYES READ SIGNS?
CAN YOUR BRAIN UNDERSTAND CLINICAL SIGNALS?
It is a shame when a clinician cannot recognize DS.
