Illustrated are forms of hypo-orchidism. Crypto-orchidism refers to undescended of hidden testicles. Often the testicle may descend spontaneously or require orchiopexy. Anorchia is rare. Associations of chrypt0-orchidism with hypospadias are frequent.
Anorchidism, micro-orchidism, macro-orchidism. The latter often is a sign of Fragile X syndrome (also known as Martin-Bell syndrome). The diagnosis requires confirmation by analysis of FMR1 gene status. Note that females (mothers and sisters) may also manifest to some degree developmental anomalies of this X-chromosome mutation severely expressed in males and mildly expressed in females.
