Ear Auricle Position

Note what signs you see.
I (W. Wertelecki, M.D.) see an illustration of one mode of assessing the ear position and its rotation from an initial horizontal to an eventual nearly vertical position. These characteristics are related to the development of the mandible. Micrognathia often is associated with “low-set” and “malrotated” ears (insufficiently vertical axis). Purists might argue that the problem is how to determine the vertical line which reflects the position of the head. These points are illustrated by posted clinical examples.
